MAAA Wingspan

21 FEBRUARY WING SPAN MAAALogo. “We also have the jets which are here every June long-weekend and we have IMAC which are the big stunt airplanes. In addition, we also have the giant models who are here in October, plus the Warbirds who come here annually,” says Brian. Idyllically located in Maryborough, the club has good camping area facilities too and is pleasingly accessible via the Bruce Highway, not far from Brisbane or Hervey Bay. “With the MAAA’s Club Assistance Scheme, we’ve just obtained a transportable ablution block that provides two showers and toilets, which has helped us improve our campsite,” continues Brian. Always the sign of a well-run, successful aeromodelling club is the welcoming encouragement of potential new members to come along and ‘have a go’. “We have a couple of very good trainers here and we usually organise a session on a Saturday morning with either the club train model or they can use their own aircraft if they’ve got one,” says Brian. “Either an experienced flyer or one of our qualified instructors will give them a couple of lessons to see if they like it and then once they have had their four lessons- under the MAAA system, we encourage them to join, as that naturally gives them insurance coverage.” Brian says that the club maintains a steady amount of aeromodelling interest with usually at least one new member joining every month. “We encourage anybody to come along, have a look to see if they like it and we’ll certainly give them the opportunity to try.” To find out more or get in touch, follow the link to the club’s website here “Always the sign of a well-run, successful aeromodelling club is the welcoming encouragement of potential new members to come along and have a go.”
