MAY WING SPAN In a positive showcase for both our thrilling sport of aeromodelling and aviation in general, on Sunday, May 5 the Darwin AviationMuseumheld an ‘Open Cockpit Day’ and invited East Point Aeromodellers Club (EPAC) to attend. The club, which was established nearly fifty years ago, showcased an array of model RC’s such as UMX planes, P45 and Piper Cherokee, with a giant scale extramodel on display too. “The event was a great success and the club’s stand generated a lot of interest inmodel aircraft and club memberships,” said EPAC Vice President, Mathew Keyes. “The ‘Open Cockpit Day’ was an attempt to try and attract more public in but [themuseum] also had other people associated with aviation, themilitary and so forth. They also kindly invited themodel club EPAC to put up a display of models to try and promote the club with the aimof perhaps getting some newmembers to sign up. “It was greatly attended and we had a lot of interest in our models and subsequently have had somemore enquires at the club since the open cockpit event.” EPAC is an all-embracingmodel club that caters to every facet of aeromodelling including helicopters and drones.
