Hosted by Tingalpa Model Aero Club (TMAC), this could be one of the only overseas trips you will get to experience for some time and will give you the chance to discover a range of new flying locations, while enjoying a fun holiday. The trip is a fun flying event, which will allow aeromodellers to bring along their aircraft big and small, and fly indoors and outdoors in a variety of locations across the island during the seven-day trip. You will meet the local clubmembers who are affiliated with TMAC and who will share with youmany of their favourite flying spots, while exploring the natural beauty of Norfolk Island. There is plenty to see and do on the island including magnificent rainforests walks, snorkelling, diving and boating trips, historic tours and restaurants featuring fresh local produce. Organiser, Will Sipma said this was the 11th year the social event has been held and while last year’s trip was cancelled due to COVID-19, it is now back bigger and better than ever. “It all started with Allen (Danvers) and I going to the island and getting to know a couple of the guys over there who then joined our Tingalpa Club. There are now eight members of the Club who live on the island and that has given us the chance to acquire a flying strip over there,” Will said. “The trip is considered a fun fly wheremembers will get to fly their models as well as enjoy a few dinners during the week and get togethers around different venues on the island.” This isn’t just a trip that appeals to our members, but for the whole family who can come over for a holiday.” Norfolk Island is located a two-and-a-half-hour flight from Brisbane and Sydney and is considered a creative source of inspiration with its tall, majestic pines, high rising cliffs, green undulating valleys, lush rainforest and brilliant turquoise waters over coral reefs.
