MAY WING SPAN MAAA EXECUTIVE president’s report 70 th MAAA National Model Aircraft Championships Between April 22 and May 1st, I attended the 70th MAAA National Model Aircraft Championships- conducted at West Wyalong. This event in my mind, and those who attended, was a huge success and all credit must go to the organisers- the NSW Free Flight Society. In total there were 267 national and international competitors representing nearly all disciplines. See breakdown chart below: China 8 Japan 1 New Zealand 1 USA 1 Ukraine 1 New South Wales / ACT 128 Victoria 67 Queensland 24 South Australia 17 Western Australia 10 Tasmania 1 Other (late or no postcode) 8 Total number of competitors 267 West Wyalong is situated within the Bland District Council and I must say the council’s support was outstanding - no hurdles were too big and request for assistance was immediate. On behalf of the MAAA, I sincerely thank the Bland District Council for their support prior to and over the competition week. During my travels, I had the opportunity to speak to West Wyalong business identities and all were overwhelmingly in support of our event and expressed the wish for it to be President: Neil Tank The MAAA are always keen to hear about your successes or story ideas for Wingspan.
