The Championships will be held in the New South Wales town of West Wyalong from 7 to 14 July 2021 and should attract hundreds of competitors eager to return to their everyday flying routines. Despite the event’s name, it will be a major state event rather than a national event, however, it attracts competitors from all over Australia. Event organiser Terry Bond said there has been a lot of interest in this event, with numbers expected to exceed the last nationals held in 2019, which attracted 120 pilots. “I think our members have missed the competition and camaraderie of aeromodelling in the last 12 months, and they are itching to get out flying again with their friends,” Terry said. “It’s going to be a fantastic competition, and while there may not be much overseas travel happening any time soon, this event, if approved, may be used to accumulate points for attendance at world championship events in the future.” The Championships will be held across two town venues; McAllister Oval and the Indoor basketball centre. The NSW Free Flight Society AB flying field, located 10 minutes out of town, covers 700 acres of land and will host radio control, control line combat and racing, as well as free flight.
