32 WING SPAN NOVEMBER ‘have a go’ AT KINGAROY AERO MODELLERS SOCIETY’S ANNUAL MODEL AERO FLY-IN KAMS’ FIFTH ANNUAL FLY-IN WILL CONTINUE TO PROMOTE THE POSITIVE THRILLS OF MODEL AIRCRAFT FLYING FOR MEMBERS AND PUBLIC ALIKE Building upon the success of their last fly-in, Kingaroy Aero Modellers Society’s (KAMS) fifth consecutive ‘Weekend Fun Fly’, will take place over the weekend of 19 – 20 October at the KAMS flying field at Booie. It promises to be an equally thrilling event full of classic fun and camaraderie. “Last year’s event, held over two days, had camping on site and night flying on the Saturday night. It was such a success that we decided to continue with that same format. This year will be our fifth successful Fly – In event,” said KAMS president, John Box. “We have also invited the local Antique Car Club to visit for morning tea on the Sunday to display their vehicles and share our hobby/sport with local like-minded enthusiasts.” Last year’s event saw pilots travel from Samford Valley, Toowoomba, Burnett Heads and Maryborough, all to share a great weekend with KAMS’ South Burnett members. On display were electric helicopters, IMAC models and a Pitts Special that flew in formation with smoke. Encouraging the general public to visit and ‘have a go’ will surely mean the positive vibes will continue for this year’s fly-in. Significantly, October’s event has also received CASA approval to fly to 1000 ft. AGL. “So, come along over the fly-in weekend, meet our friendly members and have a go at the sport of aeromodelling in the South Burnett – we look forward to welcoming you,” said John.
