07 MAAALogo. AUGUST WING SPAN “We held two events over the course of the day. The first was the Touchdown Competition which featured four lines across the middle flying strip that were at right angles to the strip. “The aim was to come in on a normal landing and try to touchdown as close as possible to the set up 2-metre zone. Every pilot obtained points for how close they were to the 2-metre zone “The second event was called three rolls, three loops and was solely for electric planes. It involved performing three rolls and three loops in the best possible timeframe. “By the afternoon, the wind picked up and a few members were hesitant to continue flying, which was understandable. Though in the evening, we held a special night fly, with lights fixed on the planes while they flew. “It was the perfect night to fly with clear skies. We even had a family stay and watch with keen interest.” Rod said the Re-Opening Day brought together friends who may not have been able to fly together for many months due to COVID-19. “We had a great day of fun flying and great camaraderie amongst our members. We are a very social club and welcome anyone to come down to our club to see what we are all about.”
