03 MAAALogo. FEBRUARY WING SPAN MAAA EXECUTIVE president’s report Executive Changes The last couple of months have been busy, both from a personal aeromodelling and administrative perspective. I advise members that our Vice President, Mr. Carl Bizon tendered his resignation several weeks ago. Carl has been Vice President for four years and had ambitions of putting his name forward for President. However, as we all know, all good plans tend to go astray. Carl, a successful businessman in his own right, was offered a job in America on terms that he could not refuse. Carl has a long history in aeromodelling, starting as a boy in New South Wales and continuing when he moved to Victoria. His experience both as a modeler and administratively, served both the VMAA and MAAA well. On behalf of all members, I wish Carl all the success in his future career, hope that he continues his aeromodelling activities in America and on his return, can share his experiences with us. In accordance with the constitution, Mr Tony Sheppard, the Secretary of the Tasmanian Association (TMAA) has been appointed as Vice President until the May 2018 Council Conference, at which time elections will be held. Tony also has a long history in aeromodelling and his experience will be an asset to the Executive. From a personal aeromodelling prospective, I have attended several events in South Australia and had the opportunity to discuss with members issues of concern to them. The Constellation Club held its annual electric fun fly event and although the weather was not entirely satisfactory, those who attended had a good time. It was refreshing to discuss aeromodelling topics, and not politics. I also attended the Port Lincoln Model Aircraft Club over the Australia Day long weekend. Each year the club holds a regular fun fly to coincide with the Tunarama Festival. Unfortunately, weather forecast temperatures were in the low forties and in their wisdom, the event was cancelled. This did not however prevent a few of us (insane modellers) going out to the field. After travelling 400 kilometres with a model in the back, one had to fly. The weather was OK until around lunch time- a decision was made that a cold beer looked better. I had a great time chatting to members and visitors to the club, one who had travelled from Victoria and another from Ceduna.
