WING SPAN FEBRUARY 08 09 MAAALogo. FEBRUARY WING SPAN The Casino Airport in Richmond Valley will play host to Australia’s first Scale Model Aircraft event held at a full-sized airport, the Casino Airport Fly- In, on the Easter long weekend, from Thursday 1 April to Monday 5 April, 2021. The Casino Airport Fly-In is a five-day event open to pilots with any larger scale aircraft. Proudly hosted by Aermodellers NSW (ANSW), with the support of MAAA, this highly anticipated event welcomes the opportunity for modellers to enjoy an outstanding flying location while catching up with friends old and new in the sport. With two flight lines in operation, and more than 1500m of runway, both sealed and grass, there is the endless opportunity to fill the sky overhead with all types of large models over a massive five days. We’ve ordered perfect weather so now it’s up to you to pack the models of your choice. So what’s it going to be? IMAC, Towplane, Gliders, Biplane, Helicopter, Gyrocopter,Turbine or Warbird? Oh and not to forget your night flyer, we’re going to light up the sky! The MAAA has sucessfully secured the airport to be used exclusively for our use for the entire five days. The MAAA’s Secretary Tyson Dodd said, “ We are very grateful to the Richmond Valley Council and CASA for allowing us the opportunity to host this truly unique event. “On behalf of all the organisers we look forward to some great flying in the skies of Casino over the Easter long weekend.” The ANSW welcomes pilots and their families to enjoy this event togther with the MAAA, assisiting in making some memorable experiences for everyone, from the kids to the ever supportive partners of the aeromodelling community. “We’re anticipating to see more than 100 aircraft of all shapes and sizes, flying throughout the five-day event, with a number of well known vendors joining us with stalls over the weekend,” Tyson said. As always, we love it when we have spectators and we invite everyone to come and watch some of the most experienced aeromodellers flying their aircraft. When you visit and you are walking in the Pit Area, take a moment and have a closer look at some of the amazing detail that is in the models. From the cockpits, the anamatronic pilots, all care taken to recreate an aircraft in minature that flies, and looks like the real thing. Take the opportunity to talk to the pilots and hear how they have built them and how much time there is in each masterpiece. If you are interested in getting into the sport even more, or you want to explore adding a different flight discipline to your skills, talk to the pilots across the weekend. You will be surprised at how generous they are with talking you through what’s involved. It’s the perfect opportunity to try something you’ve always wanted to! In the coming weeks further information on the final program, flying times, pilot registration and model storage will be released. The Pilots’ Dinner on Saturday night at the airport is bound to be the highlight and we look forward to coming together. There will be onsite camping, toilets and showers available, marquees available for hire, breakfast each morning at the Aero Club, coffee and food trucks on hand to keep everyone’s energy up and most importantly the Easter Egg drop!
