Also fundamental, is encouraging other curious potential members to have a try too. “When people come out to visit us they’re never ignored. We always approach them and ask whether they’d like to have a go too,” continues Dwayne. No doubt, a fundamental reason behind the club’s successful collaboration is the unique family atmosphere, where everyone pleasingly sees eye-to-eye. “We all just get along and nobody really runs the show. We may split up to do things but there’s never any in- house fighting,” confirms Troy. The club also realises it’s important to never lose sight of the fact that aeromodelling is all about fun and camaraderie. “We’re all here to have a good time playing with our toys. We’re here for the good times and not to argue. It’s definitely all about enjoying ourselves and it’s important not to forget that,” says Tony. Additionally, the Gladstone Aero-modelling Society would like to acknowledge the help and assistance of both the MAAQ and the MAAA. “We’ve had fantastic support from both organisations when we had our disputes concerning the other club,” continues Dwayne. “We stay loyal to what we know, we’re very happy with the comprehensive insurance they offer, along with all the MAAA sanctioned events and that’s the reason why we’re proud to remain with the MAAA.” The club would like to give special recognition to all their members who helped in supporting work on their new flying field.
