MESSAGE

It’s the time of year when our minds

turn towards preparing Christmas

feasts, secret Santa’s and present

wrapping. From new transmitters to

your first model aircraft, there’s a lot

of fun to be had, but as every seasoned

pilot knows, it’s important not to lose

any fingers!

This edition of Wingspan contains some timely reminders for

both new pilots and veterans on how to have a fun, safe flight.

You can see the work of talented MAAA Member, Luke Cullen, who

has done a superb job of painting a range of aircraft across the

country.

We’ve got tips from some of the country’s prominent modellers

about basic plane maintenance, hear about upcoming events

around the country and the MAAA offers some tips to clubs on

management matters.

The MAAA is the largest aeromodelling organisation in Australia

and encourages and supports Australians to enjoy aeromodelling

in a safe and fun environment.

There are more than 300 MAAA clubs and 11,000 members across

the country.

The American Academy of Model Aeronautics recently released

an aspirational video that you can see at

http://discoverflight.org

Like our American counterparts, the MAAA want to innovate, lead

and protect the future of our sport. By joining our community,

you can share the passion and pride you have in your sport and
